Alvin Food Pantry…how we started

The Alvin Manvel Community Food Pantry was founded in 1980 by Edith Hillhouse Dann with a mission to feed the families and individuals of the community in need. She started the pantry out of a room in First Christian Church. It has continued to thrive and provide since.

We currently provide groceries to around 300 families a week (that’s around 850 people!). We partner with the Houston Food Bank, as well as local Alvin stores (Walmart, Kroger, HEB, Aldi, Olive Garden) to get some of our food donations. We rely on public donations (money and food) to help us out as well.

Thanks to all who help the pantry to help the community!!!
